Texans Continue Strong Start at Stan Scott Invite, Add More National Quailfiers
The South Plains College Texans competed in their second indoor meet of the season at the Stan Scott Invite after weather conditions prevented travel to Kansas. The Texans continued their strong start to the year with numerous top finishes across the track and in the field.
LUBBOCK, TX - The South Plains College Texans competed in their second indoor meet of the season at the Stan Scott Invite after weather conditions prevented travel to Kansas. The Texans continued their strong start to the year with numerous top finishes across the track and in the field.
In the men's 600 yards, Yassine Bounasri placed third with a time of 1:08.97, followed by Joshem Sylvester in fourth at 1:09.95. Zion Miller finished eighth in 1:12.25, and Demari Caldwell took 10th in 1:13.35.
In the 60 meters, Jacorey Harrell placed seventh in 6.79, while Carlton Siwela and Kyle Lawrence both clocked 6.83 to finish ninth.
The Texans had a strong showing in the 400 meters, led by Carlton Siwela's third-place finish in 46.86. Elijah Joseph followed in fourth at 47.42, and Aiden Kelly took fifth in 47.61. Tamer Sakar added a third-place performance in the 800 meters with a time of 1:51.95.
Distance runners paced the meet as Dennis Cheruiyot captured first place in the 3000 meters in 8:19.53. Ylies Mihoubi followed in second with an 8:34.04, and Abdirisak Saidgurhan placed fourth in 8:41.49.
In the field events, Jacorey Harrell finished sixth in the long jump with a mark of 7.20 meters, while Jacob Thompson placed ninth at 6.33 meters. Niklas David claimed fourth in the weight throw with a throw of 14.47 meters. Logan Mennel cleared 1.95 meters to finish fifth in the high jump. In the pole vault, Jules Courel placed fourth with a mark of 5.20 meters, and Diego Constantino finished seventh at 4.75 meters.
After two meets, the Texans have multiple national-qualifying marks for the 2025–26 indoor season:

The Texans will return to action February 6–7 at the Charlie Thomas Invitational.
