Yassine Bounasri joins the South Plains College men’s track and field and cross country teams as a freshman for the 2025–2026 season, competing in the 800m. A native of Bardo, Tunisia, and a graduate of Asdrubal School Bardo, Yassine is a Tunisian National Champion, showcasing his talent, discipline, and competitive drive.
His goal is to compete at the Division I level while pursuing a degree in Business Administration and Management, continuing to grow academically and athletically.

With only two meets left before the NJCAA Outdoor National Championships, South Plains College Track and Field is not only loaded with national qualifiers but also nationally recognized, as the Texans sit ranked No. 2 in the nation and the Lady Texans No. 4.
South Plains College Track and Field delivered an impressive showing at the Masked Rider Open on March 26 in Lubbock, highlighted by multiple event wins and a growing list of national qualifying marks.
The South Plains College Texans and Lady Texans wrapped up the 2026 indoor track and field season at the NJCAA National Championships in Topeka, Kansas. The Texans finished 5th overall with 58 points, while the Lady Texans placed 6th with 55.5 points, highlighted by national champions, podium finishes, and numerous scoring performances.
Entering the championship meet, the Texans are ranked No. 2 in the nation, while the Lady Texans sit at No. 7 nationally, positioning both programs among the country’s elite heading into the final showdown of the indoor season.
With one meet remaining before the Indoor National Championships, the South Plains College Texans delivered a strong performance highlighted by multiple event victories, top-three finishes, and continued movement in the national rankings.
The South Plains College Texans traveled to College Station on February 6–7 to compete in the Charlie Thomas Invitational and delivered another strong performance, highlighted by podium finishes, relay success, and additional national-qualifying marks.
The South Plains College Texans competed in their second indoor meet of the season at the Stan Scott Invite after weather conditions prevented travel to Kansas. The Texans continued their strong start to the year with numerous top finishes across the track and in the field.
The South Plains College Texans opened the 2026 indoor track and field season with an impressive showing at the Corky Classic in Lubbock, posting multiple top-three finishes and national qualifying marks against a strong field at Texas Tech University.
