Texans Stack National Qualifiers, Ready to Make Noise at Outdoor Championships
With the road to nationals now set, South Plains College Men’s Track and Field heads into championship season loaded with depth, top national marks, and momentum across nearly every event group with 50 qualifying marks.
LEVELLAND, TX - The South Plains College Texans have wrapped up qualifying season in dominant fashion, posting national marks across sprints, distance, relays, and field events as they prepare for the NJCAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships.
On the track, the Texans boast one of the deepest sprint groups in the country. In the 100 meters, Carlton Siwela (10.35) and Kyle Lawrence (10.35) lead a stacked group that includes Loukas Rangasamy (10.43), Omar James (10.44), Quinton Gordon (10.44), and Lilian Caron-Douillard (10.47). That depth carries into the 200 meters, where Siwela (20.70) headlines another strong lineup alongside James, Elijah Joseph, Caleb Kelly, Zion Miller, Caron-Douillard, and Aiden Kelly.
The 400 meters may be the Texans' strongest event nationally, with Siwela holding the fastest qualifying time in the country at 45.64 and Joshem Sylvester right behind with the second-fastest mark at 45.72. Miller, Yassine Bounasri, Joseph, and Aiden Kelly add even more firepower in the event.
In the middle distances, Bounasri ranks second nationally in the 800 meters with a time of 1:47.35, joined by Sylvester, Demari Caldwell, Tamer Sakar, and Ylies Mihoubi. The Texans continue to show strength in distance events as well, led by Mihoubi (3:45.58) and Dennis Cheruiyot (3:48.62) in the 1500 meters, while Cheruiyot and Mihoubi also lead the way in the 5000 and 10,000 meters with nationally competitive times.
Jamieson Lewis adds a national mark in the 110 hurdles (14.10), while all three relay squads have qualified, including the 4x400 relay team of Siwela, Sylvester, Caldwell, and Miller, which holds the second-fastest time in the nation at 3:07.55.
In the field events, the Texans continue to stand out among the nation's best. Jules Courel leads the country in the pole vault with a mark of 5.44 meters, while Diego Constantino and Haden Judd also qualified. Logan Mennel cleared 2.05 meters in the high jump, and Adem Boualbani posted top-tier marks in both the long jump (7.58m) and triple jump, where he ranks second nationally at 16.10 meters.
The throws group is equally impressive, with Niklas David (53.92m) in the hammer and a dominant javelin group led by Titouan Dobo Bi, who ranks second nationally at 69.71 meters. Anthony Diaz (67.30m) and Rayvohn Telesford (64.63m) also secured qualifying marks.
In the multi-events, Tom Galabert sits second nationally in the decathlon with 6,482 points, while Mennel adds another qualifying performance with 5,013 points.
Head Coach Wes Miller is eager to see his team take the national stage after falling short of expectations during the indoor season. With a renewed focus and a strong outdoor campaign, the Texans have worked to close that gap and position themselves for a stronger showing at nationals.
With elite marks, national-leading performances, and depth across every discipline, the Texans enter the Outdoor National Championships as one of the top teams in the country and a strong contender for a national title. Nationals will be held in Hobbs, NM on the campus of New Mexico Junior College May 14th-16th.
