Lady Texans Lock in 31 National Qualifying Marks Ahead of Outdoor Championships
South Plains College Women’s Track and Field has officially punched its ticket to the national stage, securing 31 qualifying marks as the Lady Texans prepare for the Outdoor National Championships in Hobbs, New Mexico.
LEVELLAND, TX - With all qualifying meets complete, the South Plains College Lady Texans have built an impressive resume heading into the NJCAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships, totaling 31 national qualifying marks across a wide range of events.
The Lady Texans showed depth and versatility on the track, led in the sprints by Oluwatumininu Sanyaolu (11.74) and Shahyna Coudriau (11.89) in the 100 meters, while Sanyaolu also qualified in the 200 meters (24.30). In the 400 meters, Nour Rahou (55.03) and Camio White (55.14) continue to be key contributors.
Middle-distance events remain a strength for South Plains, with Rahou (2:13.61), Morgane Lenoir (2:15.81), Jennifer Lozano (2:16.52), and Icela Swaby (2:18.53) all qualifying in the 800 meters. Lozano also secured a spot in the 1500 meters with a time of 4:51.11.
In the hurdles, Rashema Lindo (14.06), Ta'Nae Henderson (14.08), Sanyaolu (14.10), and Violette Bray (14.48) all earned qualifying marks in the 100 hurdles. Rahou and Lenoir rank among the nation's best in the 400 hurdles, posting the second-fastest (58.55) and third-fastest (58.66) qualifying times, respectively.
The Lady Texans also made their mark in distance and relay events. Alison Guaman qualified in the 3000-meter steeplechase (11:37.88), while all three relay squads earned national spots, including the 4x400 relay team of Lenoir, Rahou, Houston, and White, which holds the third-fastest qualifying time at 3:43.28.
In the field events, South Plains boasts elite talent. Olga Lapuzova cleared 3.76 meters in the pole vault for the second-best qualifying height nationally. Leticia Ouaba leads the nation in the triple jump (12.74m) and also qualified in the long jump (5.88m), while Violette Bray added a mark of 11.94m in the triple jump.
Throwers Kahllah Bailey (14.14m shot put, 45.87m hammer) and Suerena Alexander (49.66m javelin, top mark nationally) headline a strong group, with Charlotte Domas also qualifying in the javelin (39.01m).
In multi-events, Bray (4228 points) and Henderson (3605 points) both secured spots in the heptathlon, further showcasing the team's depth.
Head Coach Wes Miller expressed excitement about the group's potential heading into nationals, noting the team's strong momentum after exceeding expectations during the indoor season.
The Lady Texans will compete for a national title at the NJCAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships, held May 14–16 in Hobbs, New Mexico, on the campus of New Mexico Junior College.
