The South Plains College Texans men's cross country team opened their 2025 season with a 10th-place finish at the Texas Tech Open on Friday, September 12, at the LCU XC Course in Lubbock, Texas.

South Plains College Cross Country Opens Season at Texas Tech Open
LUBBOCK, Texas - The South Plains College Texans men's cross country team opened their 2025 season on Friday, September 12, competing at the Texas Tech Open hosted at the LCU XC Course. The Texans placed 10th overall out of 15 teams, finishing with 237 points.
Sophomore Dennis Cheruiyot led the way for South Plains, earning a top-10 finish with a 9th-place performance. He was followed by Ylies Mihoubi (42nd), Adirisak Saidurhan (51st), and Grayson Hastings (55th). Donovan Martinez (92nd) and Stefan Camejo (105th) rounded out the lineup for the Texans.
"We're excited to get the season started with largely a new group on both the men's and women's sides. There was some stiff competition today, but I thought both teams gave a strong effort and represented South Plains well in our opener. For a first meet, it was a solid showing of what we can expect moving forward,a nd I'm looking forward to seeing how we build heading into our next competition." - Head Coach Wes Miller
With a solid first outing and valuable experience gained, the Texans are eager to build on this performance as they look ahead to the remainder of the season. The Texans will return to competition on Friday, September 26, at the New Mexico Junior College Invitational in Hobbs, New Mexico.
