"I'm a big presence inside if I really play my game, and my team just gave me the ball and told me to go to work," Davis said. "I felt like we needed a big presence down there because we haven't had one in a long time. I told myself to just score the ball every time I touched it."

HUTCHINSON, Kansas—Jordan Brangers scored 18 points and Jahlil Tripp chipped in 14 points and hauled in 10 boards as the second-seeded South Plains College Texans downed the No. 15 seed Panola College Ponies 88-84 on Tuesday at the Hutchinson Sports Arena in the second round of the 2017 NJCAA Division I Men's Basketball National Tournament. "I was able to hit a few shots to start off the game and kind of got cold there going into the second half," Brangers said. "Panola is a very good team and they were face-guarding me basically the entire game. I was able to hit some shots late in the second half and kind of got going for us."

Jordan Brangers led all scorers with 26 points as the Radcliff, Kentucky native went 8-of-13 from the 3-point line over 23 minutes. "We knew we had to set the tone and couldn't take them lightly," Brangers said. "We came out and executed our game plan. They play a two-three zone and extended it a little bit every time I got the ball. They stayed on me pretty good, but I was still able to hit some shots and help out my team. SNYDER—Roberto Gallinat could sense his team was one shot away. Trailing for the majority of the second half, Gallinat rose up from beyond the arc. Not once – not twice – but three times as the sophomore guard from Atlanta connected on a trio of 3s, the final one coming with 1:50 left in regulation to erase a nine-point deficit and give the Texans their first lead of the second half, 85-83. "I've been here before, and I just tried to keep calm for my teammates," Gallinat said. "I felt like we were a little rattled, and I just got a great pass and was able to finish the play. That's a good team, and it felt like they didn't miss a shot. When we got the lead, we knew we were going to have to keep pushing forward."

HOBBS, N.M.—Jordan Brangers scored 24 points and Grantham Gillard chipped in 17 as the No. 1 South Plains College Texans pummeled the New Mexico Junior College Thunderbirds 105-60 on Thursday night at the Caster Activity Center. "I was able to hit my first basket on my first possession with a jab step and a 3, and I knew it'd be a pretty good night," Brangers said. "New Mexico is a good team, especially when you're playing at their place. Coach Green preached all week that it was going to be tough going down there to play. When you go down there and beat them by 40-plus, it's a really nice statement game for us."

MCKINNEY—The South Plains College Texans rode Jordan Brangers' 35-point performance en route to a 124-81 rout of Bossier Parish Community College at the Collin County Classic on Friday night. Brangers went 12-for-21 from the floor including 8-of-14 from the 3-point line. Shawntrez Davis finished with a season high 19 points while Josh Webster totaled 12. Justice Green, Jahill Tripp and Grantham Gillard each finished with 10 points, while Raquan Mitchell totaled eight and Roberto Gallinat chipped in 7.

LEVELLAND, Texas—The South Plains College Texans opened their 2016 campaign in stellar fashion on Wednesday night, routing Wayland Baptist JV 136-38 in the season home opener at the Texan Dome. The Texans (1-0) placed seven scorers in double figures, shooting 66 percent from the floor in the contest and 41 percent from behind the arc. Wayland (0-1) shot just 18 percent from the field and was out-rebounded 61-17 on the glass.
