Assistant Girl's Basketball Coach


Rodrea Echols, originally from Memphis, Tennessee, is entering her third season as a coach at South Plains College. A graduate of Watkins Overton High School, Echols continued her academic and athletic career at New Mexico State University, where she earned her degree while competing as a member of the Aggie women’s basketball program.

At South Plains, Echols plays a vital role in recruiting, player development, and on-floor instruction. She is heavily involved in mentoring student-athletes, focusing on building relationships, fostering accountability, and preparing players for success both on the court and in the classroom. Her experience as a former Division I student-athlete allows her to connect with players and guide them through the demands of balancing academics and athletics.

Known for her passion, dedication, and leadership, Echols continues to be a key part of the Lady Texans’ success. She is the daughter of Gloria Winfrey and Roderick Echols.
