Joao shot 7-of-10 from the field and 3-of-6 from the free-throw line, proving once again why she is one the team's most reliable two-way players.
Freshman Daniela Gongo made an immediate impact in her collegiate debut, tallying 12 points, 3 rebounds, 2 steals, and 1 assist, while shooting 5-of-8 from the floor.
The Lady Texans showcased their depth with several key contributors off the bench and in the starting rotation:

SPC finished the night shooting 44% from the field (33-75), while going 6-of-23 from the three-point range (26%) and 9-of-20 from the free-throw line (45%). One of the most dominant areas for the Lady Texans came on the glass, where they out rebounded Coastal Bend 58 to 23, including 25 offensive rebounds that helped generate numerous second-chance opportunities.
Defensively, South Plains controlled the pace and held the Lady Cougars in check throughout all four quarters, never allowing them to find rhythm offensively.
With the win, the Lady Texans start the season 1-0 and build early momentum heading into their next matchup. South Plains will travel to Hobbs, New Mexico on Monday, November 3rd, where they will face Monroe University.
