Lady Texans fall to Midland College, Feb. 24
LEVELLAND – South Plains College Lady Texans fell to the Midland College Lady Chaparrals with a score of 71-58, Tuesday night, Feb. 24. Shooting in the double digits, Courtney Randle and Paris Townsend led the Lady Texans in scoring.
Randle had a season best in the loss against Midland with her 27 points and 7 rebounds, shooting 43.5 percent from the field, and teammate Townsend made 11 points for South Plains.
Staying close to the Lady Chaps in the beginning of the game, the Lady Texans handled the ball well and made some impressive shots. With 12 minutes remaining in the first half Victoria Lopez makes a three point shot that lessens the gap Midland created. In less than a minute later Kennedi Foreman puts in a three-pointer to bring the game to a one-point difference.
Heading into the second half the Lady Texans have some ground to cover to overcome Midland's lead of 32-26. Midland controlled the game after the half, with South Plains struggling to catch up.
The Lady Texans will end this seasons conference games in Odessa, Texas, Thurs., Feb. 26. The game will begin at 5:45 p.m against Odessa College (23-6, 9-4) and will be streamed live on spctexans.com. Needing a win over Odessa could place the Lady Texans in a three-way tie in the Western Junior College Athletic Conference with Frank Phillips (20-9, 6-8) and Western Texas (13-13, 5-8), if Western Texas beats Howard College, Feb. 26.
