Lady Texans clobber Cisco behind 25 points from Dawn

LEVELLAND – Alexius Dawn exploded for a career high 25 points and the South Plains College Lady Texans cruised by the Cisco College Lady Wranglers 75-46 Saturday afternoon at the Texan Dome in South Plains' home opener.

Dawn did a little bit of everything, making 9-of-12 shots from the field, 3-of-5 on 3-point goals, grabbed six rebounds, dished out four assists while also picking up three steals. NewcomerRafeegah Fataar, a 6-foot, 2-inch post from Cape Town, South Africa, recorded her best game of the season with 13 points and six rebounds.

After a slow start for both teams, the Lady Texans heated up and built a ten point lead just past the midway point of the first half and eventually went to the locker room leading 35-18.

South Plains (2-1) made 25-of-49 (.510) shots from the field, compared to the Lady Wranglers dismal 16-of-60 (.267). Cisco (2-2) also launched 20 3-point attempts, converting only three.
