Eastern Arizona too much for Lady Texans in season opener

The Lady Texans, who return four sophomores from last year's conference championship team, also received 15 points and six rebounds from Tasheena Moore and 10 points and six rebounds from newcomer Ijeoma Nzekwe.

Sophomore Alexius Dawn chipped in with eight points and also dished out six assists.

Neither team shot particularly well in the first half where South Plains fell behind 30-24.  The Lady Texans made only 8-of-25 shots (.320), while Eastern Arizona shot a paltry 27-percent from the field but were able to attempt 16 more shots in the process.

Both teams warmed up in the second half where each shot near 50-percent from the field.

Eastern Arizona outrebounded the Lady Texans 47-38, including 18-7 on the offensive end.

South Plains will look to notch their first win of the season when they face Chandler-Gilbert College at 10 a.m. MST Saturday morning.
