Texans Take 4th at NMJC Cross Country Meet
Building momentum as the postseason approaches, the South Plains College men's cross country team turned in a solid performance at the New Mexico Junior College Cross Country Meet in Hobbs, NM, placing 4th overall in a deep field of competitors.
Building momentum as the postseason approaches, the South Plains College men's cross country team turned in a solid performance at the New Mexico Junior College Cross Country Meet in Hobbs, NM, placing 4th overall in a deep field of competitors with a team score of 80 points.
Leading the way for the Texans was Dennis Cheruiyot, who delivered an impressive showing to finish 3rd overall with a time of 24:10.50. He was followed by Ylies Mihoubi, who secured a 6th-place finish in 25:20.90, and Abdirisak Saidgurhan, who crossed the line in 8th with a time of 25:52.40.
Also contributing to the team's scoring effort were Grayson Hastings in 28th place with a time of 27:51.20, Yassine Bounasri in 38th at 29:35.80, and Donovan Martinez, finishing 39th with a time of 29:38.00.
Head Coach Wes Miller praised the team's performance and progress: "What a phenomenal effort by the entire team, both men and women. We saw multiple improvements in individual and team times, including four top-10 finishers. This is a testament to their dedication the past two weeks, and we're excited to get back to training for the next meet on October 10th."
The Texans will return to Hobbs for that next meet on October 10th, which will serve as their final tune-up before returning once more for the Region V Championships on October 25th.
