LEVELLAND, Texas - Freshman Natoya Goule led the Lady Texan cross country team to their third team championship of the year when she finished second overall on the 5,000-meter course with a time of 18 minutes, 20.60 seconds, leading the front end of an SPC 2-3-4 finish.
Lisa Forsberg finished third overall, crossing the line in 18:36.90, whileKadian Dunkley was fourth in 18:45.40. Kirsten Taylor was the fourth Lady Texan to cross the line when she clocked a time of 19:35.30 for tenth overall. Tiffany Matthews rounded out the team scoring for SPC with a 13thplace finish and a time of 20:16.30. Levelland native Leann Cardona also competed for SPC, crossing the line in 14th place with a time of 20:17.00.
The Lady Texans dominated the meet with a team score of 32 points, defeating Region 5 rival El Paso Community College by 14-points.
Sophomore Joey Villarreal led the Texans with his eighth place finish, crossing the line in a season best time of 26:59.00. Isacc Placencia and David Westbury were the second and third runners to cross the line for SPC as they finished 11th and 12th, respectively. Placencia crossed the line with a time of 27:12.70, while Westbury was right behind in 27:13.60.
After dominating the majority of the race a wrong turn on the course cost freshman Kemoy Campbell a shot at the individual championship as he finished 13th overall in a time of 27:18.50.
The Texans finished second overall with 45 points.
South Plains Cross Country will now take a few weeks off from competition as their next meet will once again be contested in Levelland when the Texans and Lady Texans host the Region 5/WJCAC cross country championships October 30.
