LEVELLAND, TX - South Plains College Texans earned a key WJCAC victory Monday night at the Texan Dome, defeating New Mexico Junior College 87–82 in front of the home crowd.
The Texans were led by Antallah Sandlin'el, who finished with 23 points and seven rebounds. Zion Pipkin added 16 points and three assists, while Alexandre K'Medehouto recorded 11 points and six rebounds and Deion Ware chipped in 11 points.
South Plains built its largest lead of the night at 19 points with 9:36 remaining in the game and held off a late Thunderbirds push to secure the win. The Texans shot an efficient 50 percent from the field, 33 percent from three-point range, and 67 percent from the free-throw line. Defensively, SPC forced 10 NMJC turnovers, converting them into 10 points.
With the victory, the Texans improve to 14–4 overall and 3–2 in conference play.
South Plains will be off Thursday before returning to the Texan Dome on Monday to host Western Texas College.
