Former Texan standout Justin Brown named men's basketball assistant coach
Justin Brown will return to his alma mater to join coach Green's staff after a three-year stint at Utah State Eastern, where he served as the lead assistant under head coach Adjalma Becheli. "I chose to come back to SPC because this is the best Junior College in the country, and for me to have played and coached here before, I knew what I was getting into. It's a challenge for every assistant that comes here to do everything possible to help continue the success of the program."

Brown was an assistant under coach Green during the Texans' 2012 National Championship season, which saw the Texans become only the sixth team in NJCAA history to go unbeaten en route to a 36-0 record and the NJCAA national title.
Brown was also a standout for the Texans as a player from 2005-2007, leading the team to the Western Junior College Athletic Conference championship in 2007. Later, he transferred to Southwest Baptist University where he helped win back-to-back conference championships in 2008 and 2009.
"Being a former player and student means a lot to me. The teachers here are great, and they do everything they can to help the student-athletes, and they understand some of the environments that some of the guys come from. For the teachers to treat the guys the way that they do is great. Being a player here was an unbelievable experience, and due to the history of the program, you take pride in putting that SPC uniform on."
