Texans need overtime to sneak by Temple
South Plains held a one-point lead, 34-33, at halftime and at the end of regulation the two teams were knotted up at 71 apiece.
"I don't think we were quite ready for what hit us," said Texan head coach Steve Green. "It's hard to simulate the way they play. They rush it (the ball) down the floor and we were half a step behind, evidenced by the fact I had everyone on my team sitting on the bench with two fouls."
Sophomore Yanick Moreira continued to lead the way for the Texans, scoring 24 points. Terrence Durham had a career night with 17, Devonte Smith scored 12, and freshmanRoderick Lawrence chipped in with 10.
South Plains will have a few days to relax before beginning their preparations for the Collin County Thanksgiving Classic, held Nov. 23-24 in Plano where the Texans will face Murray State at 4 p.m. Friday and Carl Albert College at 4 p.m. Saturday.
