Texans Dominate Southwest Texas JC 102-69
The Cowboys would pull within nine points, but by the time the teams hit the locker room the Texans were up by 19, 53-34.
South Plains College did not allow Southwest Texas to get back into the game in the second half, extending their lead by as many as 42-points before settling for a 33 point win, 102-69.
Leading the way for SPC was Bo Ingram who shot 6-of-9 from the field, 4-of-6 from downtown, and 5-of-5 from the charity stripe. Ingram finished with a game high 21 points in 27 minutes. Freshman Kenny Brown had a near perfect night from the field, making 3-of-4 shots and 8-of-8 from the free throw line, finishing with 14 points. Josh Orta also had an excellent night, making 6-of-7 shots and finishing with 13 points and seven assists.
Sophomores Tramar Sutherland and Myles Walker also had double digit scoring nights with 11 and 10 points, respectively.
Also for SPC, Winston Graham and Khaliq Gross each finished with nine points, Malik Smith added five, while Antwain Thomas and JP Bernardi added three points each. Nick Diatta and Victor Holloway each scored two points.
The Texans will look to avenge their lone loss of the season tomorrow night at 7 p.m. when they play Temple College on the first day of the SPC Classic. SPC will conclude their home games for the fall 2009 semester on Saturday when they play Coastal Bend College at 1 p.m.
The Lady Texans will play Wayland Baptist University on Monday, November 23, and to support Texan freshman Nick Diatta's campaign to send shoes back to his home country of Senegal, the SPC athletic department will admit fans to the game for free with a donation of a pair of shoes.
