LEVELLAND — Repeat the process. The South Plains College women’ basketball team will look to do just that as they welcome 14 freshmen to Levelland a year after compiling one of the most successful stints in program history. Led by third-year head coach Cayla Petree, the Lady Texans scratched their way into the NJCAA Women’s Basketball National Tournament last season thanks to three wins over top 25 programs. The Lady Texans advanced to the round of 16 after knocking off Monroe College in the opening round of the national tournament, ending the year as winners of 11 of their final 14 games. “Obviously we were very happy with the success we had last season, but there’s not a different approach from season to season,” South Plains head coach Cayla Petree said. “We try to focus on getting better each day, and try to improve our individual skill sets which ultimately leads to us getting better as a team. Our main focus is to go out and compete hard each and every day and focus on the little things and put a strong focus on how we approach each day.”
