CANYON, Texas - The South Plains College Texan and Lady Texan cross country squads will compete in Canyon, Texas this evening at the West Texas A&M cross country invitational. The women's race is scheduled for 5:30 p.m. and the men will run at 6 p.m.

The SPC men enter their fourth meet of the season ranked No. 7 in the latest NJCAA polls, while the women are currently No. 3.

The Texans dropped from No. 2 last week after a disappointing meet at the Oklahoma State Jamboree. Head coach Chris Beene expects his team to rebound.

"After last week I want our guys to gain their confidence back. This is a chance for them to redeem themselves a little bit," Beene said. "We are looking forward to getting into a race where we can run some good times and improve our rankings a little bit."

Beene is very optimistic about the Lady Texans.

"If our fifth and sixth runners will step it up on our girls team we have a real shot at having a fantastic year. I have been pleased with them all season," said Beene.
