STILLWATER, Okla. - The South Plains College men's and women's cross country teams traveled to Stillwater, Oklahoma over the weekend to compete in the 74th annual OSU Cowboy Jamboree, faring well in the third meet of the 2010 season. Led by Natoya Goule for the third consecutive meet, the Lady Texans finished in seventh place in the team standings with 186 points, while Kemoy Campbell once again led the Texans to a 13thplace finish with 292 points. The OSU Jamboree is one of the biggest meets in the country and featured 14 women's teams and 18 men's teams.
Goule, a freshman from Jamaica, completed the 6,000-meter race in 22 minutes, 20.71 seconds to finish 14th place overall.Lisa Forsberg was the second Lady Texan to cross the line, finishing with a time of 23:15.18 and a 33rd place finish overall, while returning all-AmericanKadian Dunkley finished in 46th place with a time of 23:52.69.
Kirsten Taylor and Leeann Cardona completed the Lady Texan team scoring as Taylor (23:55.80) finished in 47th place and Cardona (25:29.19) finished 74th.
Competing in his second meet as a Texan, Campbell completed the 8,000-meter course in 24:33.74, finishing ninth overall in a race featuring some of the top collegiate competitors in the nation.
David Mogi crossed the line with a time of 26:33.68, good for a 56th place finish. FreshmanDavid Westbury was the Texans third runner to cross the line, finishing with a time of 27:11.30. Roblet Muhudin (27:26.98) and Hugo Aguinaga (28:11.50) rounded out the team scoring for the Texans as Muhudin finished 93rd and Aguinaga finished 122nd.
Isacc Placencia (28:24.38) and Joey Villarreall (28:33.60) also competed for the Texans, finishing 130th and 138th, respectively.
The No. 2 ranked Texans and the No. 3 ranked Lady Texans continue their season Friday, October 1 at the West Texas A&M Cross Country Invitational in Canyon, Texas.
