Texan Cross Country Ranked Number One

The first NJCAA Division I Hill N Dale Cross Country rankings have come out and the South Plains College men's team is ranked No. 1 in the nation.

The Texans were ranked first with 272 points and received seven first-place votes. Iowa Central Community College was ranked second with 270 points and three first-place votes, while Cowley County Community College was third with 263 points and one first-place vote.

SPC has only run at one meet so far this season. They placed second at Abilene Christian last weekend, finishing just behind ACU who is the NCAA Division II defending National Champion.

The Lady Texans are ranked No. 18 in the first national poll despite not placing at their first meet because they only ran four athletes and did not qualify for the team standings.

The South Plains men's and women's teams will run at New Mexico Junior College this Saturday.
