LEVELLAND, Texas – Six South Plains College Texan basketball players have made commitments and signed scholarships to continue their academic and athletic pursuits in the upcoming season at four-years institutions.


On April 18 it was reported that Roderick Lawrence would attend the University of Mississippi and Michael Karena would take his skills to Wright State University in Dayton, Ohio.


Since then, four more Texan players have inked commitments.

HUTCHINSON, Kan. – Thursday's NJCAA National Tournament quarterfinal showdown between No. 9-seed South Plains College and top-ranked Indian Hills had a championship feel to it, and the two teams did not disappoint those in attendance with a dramatic game that was not decided until the final buzzer.

"I told my guys a couple days ago, I said 'this game is for the national championship,'" Texan head coach Steve Green said.

HUTCHINSON, Kan. – The South Plains College Texan basketball team has advanced to the third round of the NJCAA National Tournament in Hutchinson, Kan., where they will take on top-seed Indian Hills Thursday at 12 p.m. in which the winner will move on to Friday's semifinal round.

HUTCHINSON, Kan. – Andre Spight scored a game high 22 points and Roderick Lawrence added 19 and eight rebounds as the South Plains College Texans beat Paris Junior College 75-65 Tuesday afternoon during second round action of the NJCAA National Tournament at the Hutchinson Sports Arena. 


Originally scheduled for 4:30 p.m., the contest started nearly two hours late due to earlier games running past schedule.
