LEVELLAND – The season will continue for the South Plains College basketball team as they have advanced to the NJCAA National Tournament as the ninth-seed and will face Region X champion and No. 24 seed Cape Fear Community College (N.C.) at 12 p.m. Monday, March 17.
LUBBOCK – The fifth-ranked South Plains College Texans will not be playing for the Region 5 Championship and have left their NJCAA National Tournament fate to a selection committee as they were routed 86-69 by Hill College in the Region 5 semifinal game Friday afternoon at the Rip Griffin Center.
LUBBOCK – The South Plains College Texans received double digit scoring from five players in what was a total team effort that led to an 85-72 victory in the opening round of the Region 5 Tournament Wednesday evening at the Rip Griffin Center on the campus of Lubbock Christian University.
South Plains (27-4) advances to the semifinal round and will play Hill College (24-7) Friday at 2 p.m.
LEVELLAND, Texas – Postseason play is scheduled to begin this week for both the Texan and Lady Texan basketball teams as the top-seeded SPC men will face Collin County at 7 p.m. Wednesday, March 5 at 7 p.m. in the final contest of four quarterfinal games and the Lady Texans will play the second of four games Thursday, March 6 when they also take on Collin County at 2 p.m.
LEVELLAND – Sophomore Roderick Lawrence scored a team high 19 points to lead six Texans scoring in double figures and the South Plains College Texans claimed their 12th conference title in school history by defeated the Odessa College Wranglers 94-78 Thursday evening at the Texan Dome.
