South Plains won its last national crown in 2018 when the Texans brought home the indoor national crown in front of their home crowd at the Sports Performance Center in Lubbock.
The Texans and Lady Texans will both have to replace a number of key pieces from a year ago as they look to compete for national gold come season's end. Freshman Rylan Olguin returns for the Texans, a sophomore who brought home a fourth place national finish in the pole vault with a mark of 14' 9". The Lady Texans will look to sophomore All-American Gladys Jemaiyo who placed third a year ago at the national meet in the women's 5000 meters in a time of 17:16.70.
Following the weekend, South Plains will be back in Lubbock next weekend for the Texas Tech Red Raider Invitational Jan. 24-25, followed by a trip to College Station for the Charlie Thomas Invitational Feb. 7-8 at Texas A&M University.
