Cayla Petree tabbed as Women's Hoop Dirt Junior College National Coach of the Week

LEVELLAND — Picking up a pair of wins over the weekend at the College of Southern Idaho Thanksgiving Classic, Lady Texan head coach Cayla Petree was named the Women's Hoop Dirt Junior College National Coach of the Week Tuesday.

Petree has led the Lady Texans to a perfect 10-0 mark this season and a No. 2 ranking in the latest NJCAA women's basketball national poll. South Plains defeated Snow College 66-46 on Friday and knocked off College of Southern Idaho 71-70 on Saturday to remain perfect heading into league play.

The Lady Texans will host Howard College on Wednesday at 5:45 p.m. at the Texan Dome to open WJCAC action and will take on Seward County on Friday at 5:45 p.m. in Levelland, followed up a conference matchup with Western Texas College on Saturday at 2 p.m. at the Dome.

Petree is now eligible to receive the Women's Hoop Dirt National Coach of the Year award which will be presented at the conclusion of the 2019-2020 season.
