No. 2 South Plains travels to Roswell Thursday to take on New Mexico Military Institute

LEVELLAND — The second-ranked South Plains College men's basketball team will take their 3-0 conference record on the road Thursday when they travel to Roswell, NM to take on New Mexico Military Institute at 6:30 p.m. MST.

Thursday's conference matchup will be streaming live at spctexans.com and Michael Wiiest of KLVT Radio will call the courtside action with pregame slated for 6:15 p.m. MST.

South Plains enters the contest with a 14-1 mark on the season, winners of nine of their last 10 including a 68-62 victory over Howard College on Monday night at the Texan Dome. Sophomore Chris Orlina led the Texans on the offensive end, netting 19 points to go along with five rebounds and four steals against the Hawks.

The Texans are averaging 84.7 points per game on the year and 79 points per game in conference play, shooting 47.4 percent from the field this season and are shooting over 50 percent from the floor in WJCAC play.

Averaging just 70.4 points per game and shooting 40 percent from the floor, New Mexico Military Institute is 4-10 this season and will be in search of their first win in conference play. The Broncos are averaging just 61 points per game in conference play and are shooting 40.4 percent from the floor and 29 percent from the 3-point line.

Following Thursday's game, South Plains will return home on Monday to take on New Mexico Junior College at 7:30 p.m. at the Texan Dome. In the first game Monday evening, the No. 5 –ranked Lady Texans will look to knock off No. 3 New Mexico Junior College at 5:45 p.m. Both games will be streaming live at spctexans.com.
