LUBBOCK — Longtime South Plains College Director of Athletics Joe Tubb added yet another piece of hardware to his mantle Monday night as he accepted his plaque into the NJCAA Men's Golf Coaches Hall of Fame at the Scottish Rite Event Center at the 2018 NJCAA Men's Div. I Golf National Championship banquet.

Tubb, along with South Plains College and Lubbock Sports Authority, is hosting the 2018 NJCAA Men's Div. I Golf National Championship May 15-18 at the Rawls Course. Lubbock will welcome some 21 teams and 107 athletes to the South Plains with the tournament slated to get underway at 7:30 a.m. on Tuesday.

No stranger to hosting national events, Tubb hosted 14 NJCAA championship events during his 33-year tenure in Levelland including the 2016 NJCAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships in which the Texans made collegiate history capturing their 10th consecutive outdoor national crown.

Tubb served as Director of Region 5 from 1999-2009 and has been a member of NATYCAA since 1989 and has sat on the NATYCAA board since 2001. In April 2010 he was elected to serve as the NJCAA 1st Vice-President for men, a position he maintained until being elected President. In 2015, Tubb was awarded the NJCAA Appreciation Award for his many years of service.
