LUBBOCK, Texas - The South Plains College Texan and Lady Texan rodeo teams will be represented by six athletes in tonight's short round beginning at 7 p.m. inside the Texas Tech Equestrian Center following three days of qualifying rounds. The Texans will have two competitors in steer wrestling and one in tie-down calf roping, while the Lady Texans qualified three in goat tying.
JW Ery and Shane Krywcun each earned 45 championship points as they tied for second in the long round, each finishing with a time of 4.5 seconds. Ery will have a tremendous opportunity to move up the standings in the event as he entered the Texas Tech Rodeo in sixth place overall in the Southwest region.

Competing during Saturday morning's slack, Pryce Harris tied down his calf in 7.9 seconds, a time that would be strong enough to enter the short round tied for third.

Each of SPC's qualifiers in goat tying competed Friday morning. Kipty Watt and Sadie Watkins each turned in times of 8.4 seconds and fellow Lady Texan Kylee Mackelprang was hot in their heels with a time of 8.5 seconds. Watt and Watkins are each in a tie for fourth and Mackelprang is tied for seventh.

Texas Tech's final short go will begin at 7 p.m. at the Texas Tech Equestrian Center located at 5712 CR 1500 in West Lubbock.
