LEVELLAND, Texas - After surviving two games as the No. 1 team in all of the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA), it probably surprised few people that the Texans were again voted the top-ranked team in the country when the polls were released earlier today.
Unlike the January 24 poll that had the SPC men receiving 14-of-16 first place votes, the latest poll is unanimous with the Texans earning each of the 16 votes.
The Texans have survived two close games since being voted No. 1 last week, defeating New Mexico 79-78 thanks to a buzzer beating 3-point goal and then besting Howard College 65-62 last night at the Texan Dome.
South Plains (20-0, 5-0) will put their No. 1 ranking on the line again Thursday when they travel to Snyder to face Western Texas College.
