PLANO, Texas - Yanick Moreira made 9-of-14 shots from the field and scored a game high 24 points to help lead the South Plains College Texans past Panola Saturday evening at the Collin County Thanksgiving Classic. The victory keeps SPC's perfect record intact at 8-0.
After struggling a bit in the first half that saw the Texans trailing 39-34 at intermission, South Plains College absolutely dominated their opponents over the final 20-minutes by outscoring Panola 56-28. The final score saw SPC win by a 23 point margin, 90-67.
Sophomore Derrell Edwards had his best game of the season coming off the bench with 19-points, including a perfect 8-of-8 from the free throw line. Tymell Murphy just missed a double-double with 13 points, nine rebounds, and even dished out four assists.
The Texans return to action on Thursday, December 1 when they host the University of Chihuahua at 6:30 p.m. to begin three games in three days that will finish off the 2011 portion of the season. On Friday, December 2, the Texans will play host to the Texan Classic and are scheduled to face Coastal Bend College at 6:30 p.m. and then Clarendon College at 2 p.m. Saturday.
