CISCO, Texas - Sophomore Ashley Roberts scored a game high 24 points, but that was not enough to help the Lady Texans overcome a high powered Cisco offense that had five players in double figures as South Plains dropped their fourth in a row since defeating Cisco November 12 at the Texan Dome.
Roberts gave the Lady Texans their only lead of the game when she hit a three-pointer four minutes into the game to make the score 9-6. Cisco then rolled off 11 unanswered points and would go on to take a 19 point lead when the halftime buzzer sounded. The Lady Wranglers would go on to defeat the SPC women 97-63.
The loss drops SPC to 1-6 on the season, while Cisco improves to 5-4.
Playing all 40 minutes, Roberts made 4-of-7 shots from beyond the 3-point line and was also 10-of-12 from the free-throw line. Stephanie Moore added 11 points, while Kayla Turner chipped in with nine.
The Lady Texans will look to halt their skid on Thanksgiving weekend when they travel to Plano, Texas, to play in the Collin County Thanksgiving Classic November 25-26. South Plains will play Tyler College (4-2) at 12 p.m. Friday and will then tangle with host Collin County at 2 p.m. Saturday.
