MIDLAND, Texas - Sophomore Marshall Henderson exploded for 34 points Saturday afternoon, helping the Texans dominate the No. 13 ranked Lamar-Port Arthur Seahawks by the score of 81-68 on the final day of the East-West Classic hosted by Midland College.
The Texans earned their first double-digit lead 8-minutes into the game when Henderson sunk his third three-pointer of the first half. Lamar fought back into the game and even reclaimed the lead late in the half. The Texans would end up going to the locker room with a five point lead, 44-39.
South Plains College wasted no time when the two teams returned to the court for the second half, jumping out to a 19 point lead by outscoring their opponent 15-1 to start the half.
Lamar then got hot and responded with a 15-3 run of their own get to within seven with just over 8-minutes remaining. That was as close as the Texans would allow the Seahawks to get as they would go on to win by the score of 81-68.
Henderson made 10-of-19 shots for the game, including 7-of-13 from downtown to score the game high. Freshman Yanick Moreira and sophomore Tymell Murphy each contributed a double-double to help the Texan cause.
