LEVELLAND, Texas - Thirteen teams entered the 2011 edition of the ‘Meet the Texans' Tailgate Party and Cook-off and the top team as determined by celebrity judges Billy Gillispie, Gerald Myers, and Corky Oglesby, represented American State Bank and Butch's Rat Hole.
Tyson Tyler, Shawn Anderson, Ken Gallegly, and Marc Tucker represented the two companies that teamed up to take top honors in the contest.
Sundown State Bank, represented by Mike Broussard and Vic Mounds, was named runner-up, while the group from Rose Equipment Co. took third.
Other teams entered in the contest included Platinum Bank, AimBank, City Bank, Big Bear Oilfield Services, Hockley County School Employees Credit Union, Allied Oil Field, Oxy, McCutchin Construction, Atmos Energy, and Musselwhite Trucking.
The winning team received $250 they can donate to a scholarship area of their choice at South Plains College.
‘Meet the Texans' is an annual event put on by the South Plains College department of athletics that is meant to kick-off the basketball season and introduces each of the Texan and Lady Texan teams to the community.
