PORTALES, N.M. - Competing in Saturday morning's slack, sophomore Ty Willick turned in a dominating performance in the steer wrestling competition when he finished in 4.5 seconds to win the round and score 60 championship points.
Unfortunately, Willick was unable to reproduce the performance in the final performance Saturday evening as he was unable to record a time. His 60 points was good enough to finish in a tie for fifth in the first-of-five fall rodeo's South Plains College is scheduled to compete in.
Willick was the only SPC participant to advance to Saturday's final performance.
The rodeo team's will compete again at the Sul Ross State University rodeo beginning Thursday, September 29 and concluding Saturday, October 1.
