NEW YORK, N.Y. - Rondell Bartholomew, the SPC school record holder in the 400 meter run, came up just short in his bid to defeat Olympic gold medalist Jeremy Wariner when he finished with a time of 45.17 seconds in less than ideal conditions at Icahn Stadium.

Bartholomew, who got off to a good start under the cool and wet conditions, appeared to shift into another gear as he passed through 200 meters.  When the runners came off the final curve the native of Grenada held a slight edge over Wariner and the rest of the field, but over the final meters was nipped at the line by Wariner (45.13) as well as the late charging Jermaine Gonzales (45.16) of Jamaica.

Bartholomew still has the fastest time in the world over 400 meters with his time of 44.65 seconds run in April.
