LEVELLAND, Texas - The South Plains College rodeo teams are in Stephenville for the final regular season rodeo of the 2011 season. After four compete on Thursday night, SPC athletes get busy with a number of competitors Friday and Saturday.
Sophomore Ben Ramey has struggled of late but is still in a good position to advance to the College National Finals Rodeo with a good performance Friday night, according to SPC head rodeo coach Kerry Doster.

"He (Ramey) has 310 points and third place has 350," says the first year SPC coach. "In one rodeo he can gather up 180 points if he wins it straight across. Ben has been second in a couple of rodeos but has not won one this year. I am going in with the attitude that he will win this rodeo and that will carry him on to the national finals."

Ramey's performance will have to carry him from sixth in the southwest region standings to third, in which he trails by only 40 points.
