BIG SPRING, Texas - Sophomore Carley Richardson raced to a time of 17.32 seconds in the barrel racing on Friday morning and has put herself in position to qualify for Saturday's final round. Her time was the quickest recorded on Friday morning and sixth overall counting the slack Thursday evening.

Competing Thursday evening in steer wrestling Blake Gagnon finished with the fourth fastest time of 7.0 seconds, good for fourth place. Shiloh Hadley had potentially the fastest time in breakaway roping at 2.8 seconds, but was penalized when she broke the barrier.

The Howard College rodeo will continue with a performance scheduled for Friday evening at 7 p.m. and will conclude after the short round Saturday evening.
