LEVELLAND, Texas - The defending NJCAA outdoor track and field champion Texan and Lady Texan track teams are traveling to El Paso, Texas and will compete in the UTEP Invitational Saturday, April 16. South Plains College is coming off a successful weekend at the 84th running of the Texas Relays in which six school records were set.
The Texans and Lady Texans will compete in a wide array of events beginning at 1 p.m. with the men's discus and concluding at 6:50 p.m. with the running of the men's 4x400 meter relay.
Jura Levy, who twice broke her own school record last week in the 100 meter dash, will look to improve upon her best of 11.10 seconds and will also run her first 200 meter dash of the season.
Rondell Bartholomew will try to make a run at Renny Quow's school record time of 20.67 seconds in the men's 200 meter dash. Bartholomew ran the world leading time over 400 meters two weeks ago at the Texas Tech Invitational when he broke the school record with a time of 44.65 seconds.
The UTEP Invitational will mark the fourth full meet of the 2011 outdoor season for South Plains College.
