LEVELLAND, Texas - The South Plains College rodeo teams will begin competition in Big Spring at 5:30 p.m. when the Howard College rodeo begins this evening and have several cowboys and cowgirls competing in the first slack.
Ben Ramey is currently fifth in the standings in the steer wrestling competition and will need a good mark tonight to get back into contention for a berth to the College National Finals Rodeo (CNFR) in June. Ramey has earned 310 points during the season and is 40 behind third place. The CNFR takes the top three in each event.
Other South Plains College athletes ranked in the top 15 are Coltin Jamieson in bareback riding and Jay T. Pettitt in bull riding. Jamieson ranks 11th, while Pettitt is tied for 15th and both compete in tomorrow's performance at 7 p.m.
