SNYDER, Texas - Coltin Jamieson and Courtney Conklin were the lone representatives from South Plains College to advance to Saturday's short round at the Western Texas College rodeo help March 31-April 2 in Snyder.
Competing in bareback riding, Jamieson rode to a score of 69 points in the first round to advance as the fifth best competitor. Jamieson was unable to record a score in the final and finished with 20 points.
Conklin advanced to the final after recording a time of 2.1 seconds in the first round of breakaway roping, earning 30 points with the fourth quickest time. Similar to Jamieson, Conklin ran into bad luck and was unable to record a time in the final.
The South Plains College rodeo teams will have the next weekend off from competition before traveling to Big Spring for the Howard College rodeo April 14-16.
