RANGER, Texas - Ben Ramey finished second in the long round and second in the average to earn 120 points in the steer wrestling competition at the Ranger College rodeo held March 3-5. The performance catapults Ramey from sixth to second in the Southwest region standings, putting him in position for a return trip to Casper, Wyoming for the College National Finals Rodeo in June. He had a two round total of 11.6 seconds after performances of 5.1 (long) and 6.5 (short) seconds.
Schelli White got off to a good start in breakaway roping by winning the long round with a time of 2.5 seconds. Unfortunately, White was unable to record a time in Saturday's short round.
Shiloh Hadley had a two day total of 18.3 seconds in the goat tying competition to finish seventh overall. Hadley's long round time of 8.5 seconds was good enough to advance to Saturday's short round where she recorded a time of 9.8 seconds.
The South Plains College rodeo teams will return to action when they co-host the Odessa College rodeo March 24-26.
