The Texan and Lady Texan cross country teams are scheduled to depart for Overland Park, Kansas today where they will participate in the NJCAA Half-Marathon Championships Saturday, November 20th. The Texans are the defending champions on the men's side, while the Lady Texans look to improve upon their seventh place finish from one year ago.

The half-marathon competition is scored very similarly to cross country with the only difference being that each team's top three competitors make up that teams overall score and each team is only allowed five athletes. In cross country, seven athletes are allowed to make up a team, with the top five representing the team score.

Kemoy Campbell will look to lead the Texans to the defense of their title and he will be joined by Hugo Aguinaga, Joey Villarreal, Roblet Muhudin, and Isacc Placencia.

The Lady Texan contingent will consist of Natoya Goule, Tiffany Matthews, Leann Cardona, Kadian Dunkley, and Kirsten Taylor.

This year's event will take place at Shawnee Mission Park in Overland Park, Kansas where the weather is scheduled to be in the mid-50's when the races begin at 8 a.m. for the women and 8:20 a.m. for the men.

Results will be posted here after the races.
