AUSTIN, Texas - The SPC Track and Field team had five athletes compete during the first two days of the Texas Relays, with four setting season bests and qualifying for the NJCAA meet to be held in May.
On Wednesday, Shakeeri Cole began the competition in the women's 800-meter run and ran a season best of 2:10.09 to finish third in the race. Freshman Lisa Forsberg followed that with a victory in the 1,500 meter run when she crossed the line in 4:37.24.
Chante'sean White ran continued to improve her time in the 400 meter hurdles when she won the third section with a time of 1:03.03 in windy conditions, nearly ½-second better than her previous best of 1:03.48 she ran last week in El Paso. Harmony Phillips competed in the fifth section and finished with a time of 1:07.64.
Isaiah Gill won the preliminary round of the college division 400 meter hurdles when he easily outdistanced his competition with a time of 53.25. Gill advances to the final held Saturday at 12:15 p.m.
The track team gets busy at 9:30 a.m. Friday morning, beginning with the women's 4x100 meter relay. A live video feed is available at www.texassports.com.
