
The regular season is in the books but the Texans and Lady Texans of South Plains College are not finished playing basketball as both have qualified for the Region 5 tournament held March 4-7 at Lubbock Christian University's Rip Griffin Center.
The tournament begins Thursday, March 4 with the Texans (18-10, 8-6) drawing No. 24 ranked McLennan Community College (26-4, 12-2) to open the tournament. McLennan is the No. 1 seed from the North Texas Junior College Athletic Conferene (NTJCAC), while the Texans enter as the No. 4 seed from the Western Junior College Athletic Conference (WJCAC).
Coach Wyatt's SPC Lady Texans (18-9, 9-3) enter as the No. 2 seed from the WJCAC and will face McLennan Community College (18-11, 12-4), the No. 3 seed from the NTJCAC. The two teams squared off on December 7, with McLennan squeaking by SPC 55-53.
The Lady Texans and Highlassies are scheduled for a 2 p.m. tip-off on Friday, March 5 and are fighting for a shot at either Odessa or Temple in the semifinal game Saturday at 5 p.m.

Ticket prices for the event are $7.00 for adults and $4.00 for students and seniors. Tournament passes are also available at the rate of $20.00 for adults and $12 for students and seniors.
