LAS VEGAS, Nev. - Adam Gray, a former member of the South Plains College rodeo team has began competition at the National Finals Rodeo in his marquee event of tie-down roping. After one round of competition Gray sits in a three-way tie for third place with a time of 7.80 seconds.
Gray, a native of Seymour, Texas, is ranked fourth in the world, according to the latest PRCA standings, in the event and has earned over $94,000 in 2009.
Some of Gray's 2009 accomplishments include winning the Sikeston (Mo.) Jaycee Bootheel Rodeo, Lewiston (Idaho) Roundup, Goliad (Texas) County Fair PRCA Rodeo, and the Cowboy Capital of the World Pro Rodeo in Stephenville, Texas.
