The South Plains College Lady Texans fell to Cisco College by the score of 64-54 Wednesday night in Cisco and look to bounce back as they will play three games in a row beginning tomorrow at 2 p.m. at Temple College. SPC will then play Hill College at 5 p.m. Sunday, December 6 and finish their Central Texas tour with a 5:30 p.m. matchup versus McLennan Community College on Monday, December 7.
The Lady Texans found themselves in an early hole Wednesday night against Cisco as they allowed their opponent to score the first 10 points of the ball game. With 13:09 to go in the first half, Kelsey Canavan got the Lady Texans on the scoreboard when she made a shot inside the paint that would spark the Lady Texans to a 25-11 run to finish the half on a positive note. SPC led Cisco 25-21 at halftime.
Unfortunately for SPC, Cisco came out with their guns blazing and began the second half by outscoring the Lady Texans 13-4 in the opening minutes to take a 34-29 lead with 13:20 to go in the game.
SPC closed the gap to within one point, but would never hold the lead again, eventually falling to Cisco 64-54.
Freshman Kelsey Canavan scored 14 points and pulled down nine rebounds in 28 minutes for SPC. Ashlyn Green and Lorie Romaine also scored in double figures with 12 and 10 points, while ToiEasha Cooper added eight points and grabbed a game high 10 rebounds.
Saturday's matchup with Temple College will be rematch from a November 5th game the Lady Texans won in dominating fashion, 67-49. Temple (6-2) is riding a four game winning streak and have not lost since being defeated 66-56 November 11th at Blinn College.
Hill College (3-8), on the other hand, is currently on a six game losing skid, their latest defeat also coming at the hands of Blinn College on November 30th.
McLennan Community College is currently 3-5 on the season and have a tough three game stretch themselves as they play nationally ranked opponents Odessa College tonight and Midland College Saturday before facing the Lady Texans on Monday.
