BERLIN, Germany - Former SPC track standout Isa Phillips was
able to cruise through the first round heats in 48.99 seconds, easily qualifying
for the semi-final round.
However, his bid for a medal at the 2009 World Track and
Field Championships came to an end when he finished fourth in the second
section in 48.93 seconds, missing the final round by .2 seconds.
Other former Texans still have a shot to make the medal
stand as Renny Quow (Trinidad & Tobago) runs the first round of the 400
meter dash on Tuesday, August 18, and Latoy Williams (Bahamas) is scheduled to
compete on his countries 4x400 meter relay on August 22.
